Per Sé Group has an immediate need for a Field Engineer to provide electrical oversight for a capital construction project at a 925 MW combined cycle power plant. The Field Engineer will supervise all construction activities related to electrical installations and will transition to start-up and commissioning oversight to finish the project.

 

Daily Responsibilities

  • Supervise site electrical construction and commissioning activities, but not limited to the following:
    • Assembly, testing and energization of Generator Step Up transformers 20/525kV and accessories.
    • Testing and energization of Unit Auxiliary transformers 6.9/20 kV
    • Testing and energization of Station service transformers .480/6.9kV
    • Testing, and energization of 6.9 kV switchgears and Motor Control Centers
    • Testing and energization of 480 V switchgears and Motor Control Centers
    • Assembly, testing, and energization of isophase, segregated bus ducts, and cable installations
    • Assembly, testing, and energization of 20kV Gas Turbine generator breakers
    • Assembly, testing and energization of Gas Turbine generators
    • Assembly, testing and energization of Steam Turbine generator
    • Assembly, testing and energization of all 6.9 kV motors
    • Assembly, testing and energization of all 480 Volt motors over 50 hp
    • Assembly, testing and energization of all DC motors
    • Assembly, testing and energization of plant vital AC systems
    • Assembly, testing and energization of plant battery systems / chargers
    • Commissioning checks on 500kV High Voltage switchyard equipment (yard energized in November 2017; however, no current flow in breakers / current transformers)
    • Balance of Plant Electrical Systems assembly and testing
      • Fire Protection systems, including Electric Fire Pump and controller
      • Heat Trace Systems
      • Plant Metering from switchyard 3
      • Plant auxiliary station services
      • Plant HVAC systems o Protective relaying systems
      • DCS system
      • 6.9kV cable installations, terminations, testing
  • Ensure that BVCI performs above GT and GTG construction and commissioning activities in accordance with on-site directions, MHPSA construction drawings and quality manuals. The field engineer will also insure that all applicable MHPSA sign-offs and approvals are received. The field engineer will also review applicable gas turbine generator bulletins.
  • Ensure that BVCI performs above ST and STG construction and commissioning activities in accordance with on-site directions, Siemens construction drawings and quality manuals. The field engineer will also insure that all applicable Siemens sign-offs and approvals are received. The field engineer will also review applicable steam turbine and generator bulletins.
  • The field engineer will participate in BVCI construction-to-commissioning walk down and generate punch list items for Balance of Plant, GTG and STG areas
  • Submit weekly and monthly reports electrical related items, briefly describing construction activities, head count including craft mix, material receipts, production/quantities achieved, safety and quality concerns if any.
  • The field engineer will provide early warning signals for craft productivity/availability and schedule issues
  • Attend Plan of the Day (POD) meetings conducted by EPC contractor
  • Coordinate and interact with EPC construction manager, material coordinator, construction superintendents (electrical), site quality manager and OEM as needed.
  • The field engineer will review EPC monthly invoices for gas turbine/steam turbine area construction progress
  • The field engineer will perform above job functions in accordance with site safety guidelines

Desired Skills and Expertise

  • B.S. in Engineering or related field
  • 15+ years of construction supervision and QA/QC experience in gas turbine combined cycle power plants
