Manufacturing Automation Engineer
DESCRIPTION:

The engineer will design, develop, and support manufacturing software control systems used with fabrication equipment at customer facilities located in North America. This role is responsible for the design, development, validation, and support of automation software to enable manufacturing technologies. The position requires the ability to independently manage work assignments and oversee the full project lifecycle, from requirement analysis to deployment and ongoing support.

ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Support pre- and post-sales technical support
  • Demonstrate software products to potential and existing customers
  • Analyze customer requirements and design software solutions to meet those needs
  • Maintain clear communication with customers and software development partners
  • Test new software builds to validate functionality, reliability, and performance
  • Provide expert-level support to factory technicians and process engineers on software applications
  • Collaborate with the software development team to drive core product growth
  • Develop new software solutions for customers and industry partners
  • Create and present technical training curriculums
  • Travel to customer and industry partner facilities for sales support, implementation, and advanced technical training sessions (up to 50% travel may be required annually)
  • Cultivate professional relationships with both developers and customers

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:

  • Basic understanding of industrial CNC machines and industrial processes
  • Proficient in the use of AutoCAD, SolidWorks, or related design suites
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and troubleshooting skills
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication abilities
  • Ability to handle ambiguity and stay self-motivated
  • Valid driver’s license and ability to operate a motor vehicle

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, or equivalent
  • 3+ years of experience in software design and development
  • Experience in manufacturing engineering or programming
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Windows platform using C#, C++, and .NET Framework
  • 3+ years of experience in factory automation, including development and support of mission-critical systems
  • Proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook
