This critical role is responsible for ensuring the integrity, reliability, and safety of the refinery’s fixed equipment, including pressure vessels, piping systems, and storage tanks. The ideal candidate will bring a minimum of 5 years of experience in the inspection of fixed equipment, preferably within the refinery or chemical industry. This role requires deep knowledge of industry standards, fitness-for-service assessments, and a commitment to maintaining high operational performance.
Key Responsibilities:
- Fixed Equipment Inspection: Perform thorough inspections of fixed equipment including pressure vessels, heat exchangers, piping systems, and storage tanks to ensure compliance with safety, environmental, and industry standards.
- Compliance & Standards: Conduct inspections in accordance with relevant codes and standards such as API 510 (Pressure Vessels), API 570 (Piping), ASME Boiler and Pressure Vessel Code, and other applicable safety and regulatory standards.
- Fitness for Service: Assess the integrity and remaining life of equipment through fitness-for-service calculations and determine whether equipment is suitable for continued operation or requires repairs/replacement.
- Inspection Reports: Document and maintain detailed inspection records, including findings, recommendations, and any corrective actions. Prepare clear, concise, and actionable reports for management.
- Collaboration with Operations and Maintenance: Work closely with operations and maintenance teams to provide inspection feedback, address any concerns, and recommend repairs or modifications to improve equipment performance and safety.
- Root Cause Analysis: Investigate failures, corrosion, or equipment malfunctions and provide recommendations to prevent reoccurrence, improving reliability and operational efficiency.
- Maintenance Support: Support scheduled and unscheduled maintenance activities, including turnarounds and shutdowns, ensuring proper inspection processes and timelines are met.
- Continuous Improvement: Stay up to date with the latest industry trends, codes, and technologies in fixed equipment inspection and incorporate this knowledge to optimize inspection practices.
Position Requirements:
- Experience: Minimum of 5 years of experience in the inspection, testing, and evaluation of fixed equipment in an industrial environment, preferably in the refinery or chemical industry.
- Certifications:
- API 510 Pressure Vessel Inspector Certification (required)
- API 570 Piping Inspector Certification (required)
- ASNT Level II Certification in UT, PT, or MT (preferred)
Preferred Qualifications:
- Industry Experience: Experience in the oil & gas, refinery, or chemical processing industry is highly preferred.
- Additional Certifications:
- NACE Corrosion Certification (CP2 or higher)
- Additional certifications in inspection technologies (e.g., ultrasonic, radiography, etc.) are a plus.
