Project Support and Field Operations
- Engage in project meetings and fieldwork, which may require travel, overnight stays, or work during evenings and weekends.
- Adapt to varying field conditions, including adverse weather, extended hours, and challenging environments.
- Assist in the implementation and enforcement of safety protocols across the team.
- Contribute to the timely and efficient completion of all assigned environmental tasks and project deliverables.
- Document and maintain records of client meetings to gain and communicate technical insights into ongoing projects.
- Ensure adherence to quality standards in all deliverables and support accurate and timely invoicing cycles.
Technical Competencies
- Possess foundational knowledge of relevant environmental regulations and guidelines.
- Support field data collection efforts and assist in preparing technical reports on:
- Wetland delineations
- Permit applications (e.g., Nationwide Permit Pre-Construction Notifications)
- Aquatic resource surveys
- Habitat assessments for threatened and endangered species
- Phase I Environmental Site Assessments
- Tree surveys
- Participate in internal and external training sessions to enhance skills in field surveys and technical report writing, focusing on:
- Individual permit applications or letters of permission
- Navigation-related permits
- NEPA documentation, including Categorical Exclusions, Environmental Assessments, and Environmental Impact Statements
- Species-specific surveys for protected species
- Section 7 consultation processes
- Mitigation and restoration planning and implementation
- Ecological restoration techniques
- Ecological modeling data collection and interpretation
- Develop proficiency in writing clear and accurate environmental reports and deliverables.
- Gain experience with field survey equipment and collaborate with the team to ensure proper maintenance of all field gear.
Environmental Scientist Responsibilities
- Assist the leadership team in ensuring operational efficiency, profitability, and resource management, including safety policy compliance.
- Work collaboratively with the team to maintain and manage company resources, including equipment, vehicles, and office supplies, to optimize cost-effectiveness.
- Participate in required training programs to enhance skills and knowledge in relevant practice areas.
- Adhere to all company policies, procedures, and confidentiality agreements.
- Perform job duties in accordance with established operations and procedures, including project management, safety planning, and general office responsibilities.
