Summary:

The Maintenance Supervisor is responsible for the effective direction and supervision of a multi-discipline team to maintain and repair a wide range of power plant equipment. The Maintenance Supervisor will manage the maintenance mechanic team to optimize the availability of the generating units at the lowest cost and is responsible for assuring the employees in the team have the training and skills they need to do their jobs. This person will also need to administer contracts for maintenance actives making sure that plant and company procedures are followed in regards to employment and administration procedures.

Responsibilities:

• Provides leadership and is responsible for directly supervising the mechanics / contractor team and organizes personnel and tasks to achieve the highest level of productivity.
• Encourages employees to be self-directed and self-managing in their work activities and assists team members to reach joint decisions without regard to individual interests or egos.
• Develops clear performance agreements with assigned employees and provides support to help them meet those agreements.
• Effectively uses the approved Positive Discipline program to manage employee performance. And maintains an appropriate level of documentation of all performance management activities.
• Conducts safety and environmental meetings and coaches employees to assure that safety and environmental rules and procedures are followed. Ensures that all team members attend mandatory environmental/emergency response training.
• Conducts timely and accurate accident investigations.
• Seeks input from all members of the Production Team and ensures where possible decision making involves team members directly impacted by the outcome.
• Works with the employees to create annual Performance /Development plans and assist the employee to implement.
• The Maintenance Supervisor has a primary responsibility for oversight of the plant work.
