The best turnaround leads don’t spend the day sitting in the trailer. They’re in the field – keeping crews moving, solving problems before they become delays, and making sure critical instrumentation work is completed safely and on schedule.
We’re looking for experienced Turnaround Instrument Lead Technicians to support a major refinery turnaround in Lemont, IL. If you’ve led instrumentation crews through refinery outages and know how to balance safety, quality, and schedule pressure, we’d like to talk.
What you’ll do
- Lead and coordinate daily activities for an instrumentation crew during a refinery turnaround.
- Develop work plans, assign priorities, and keep work aligned with the turnaround schedule.
- Support calibration, troubleshooting, repair, loop checks, and commissioning of field instrumentation and control systems.
- Work alongside Operations, Maintenance, Engineering, and contractors to quickly resolve field issues.
- Verify work quality, remove roadblocks, and keep crews productive throughout the shift.
- Lead by example with refinery safety expectations, permitting, LOTO, and safe work practices.
- Provide daily progress updates and maintain accurate documentation throughout the project.
What you get
This is a high-hour turnaround assignment offering approximately 72 hours per week. Pay is $67.50/hour, with $100/day per diem available for eligible travelers, plus mobilization and demobilization reimbursement. You’ll play a key leadership role on a refinery turnaround where your decisions directly impact the success of the outage.
Who you are
You’re a hands-on Instrument Lead who earns respect by being present in the field, not by managing from behind a desk. You’ve led instrumentation crews during refinery turnarounds or major outages, understand critical-path work, and know how to troubleshoot complex instrumentation issues while keeping safety first. You communicate well, stay organized under pressure, and know how to keep both people and schedules moving.
