Safety Specialist – Power Generation

If you’re tired of working somewhere safety is talked about more than it’s actually practiced…keep reading.

Per Sé Group is seeking an experienced Safety Specialist to support the day-to-day safety and health program at a power generation facility. This is a hands-on role for someone who knows how to build credibility in the field, influence safe behaviors, and work alongside plant leadership and employees to prevent incidents before they happen.

If OSHA 1910, Process Safety Management (PSM), VPP, root cause analysis, industrial hygiene, and electrical generation safety standards are already part of your world, we should talk.

Pay Rate: $50–$60/hour
Contract Duration: Initial contract assignment with the potential for future direct-hire consideration. Conversion is not guaranteed.
Location: Local candidates preferred.

What You’ll Do

  • Implement and support station safety and health programs with an emphasis on injury prevention and regulatory compliance.
  • Conduct safety audits, inspections, and field observations to identify hazards and drive corrective actions.
  • Ensure compliance with OSHA requirements, company safety procedures, and other applicable regulatory standards.
  • Investigate incidents and accidents, conduct root cause analyses, and recommend actions to prevent recurrence.
  • Partner with plant management on regulatory interpretation, reporting, and overall safety performance.
  • Evaluate existing safety programs and recommend improvements.
  • Develop and support safety training programs for plant employees.
  • Facilitate safety committees and communicate expectations across all levels of the organization.
  • Support occupational health and industrial hygiene initiatives.
  • Interact with regulatory agencies and assist with facility audits as required.

What You’ll Bring

  • Minimum 5 years of full-time safety experience, or 10 years of relevant industry experience that includes significant safety responsibilities.
  • Strong working knowledge of OSHA regulations and industrial safety requirements.
  • Understanding of Process Safety Management (PSM) and OSHA electrical generation and power distribution requirements.
  • Experience conducting incident investigations and root cause analyses.
  • CSP, OHST, CIH, or the ability to obtain an applicable professional safety certification.
  • Strong communication skills and the ability to influence safe behaviors from the plant floor through management.
  • Ability to work independently in a fast-paced operating environment.
  • Valid driver’s license and high school diploma/GED.

Previous power plant safety experience, VPP experience, SGE audit experience, and a bachelor’s degree in Safety, Occupational Health, or a related discipline are highly valued.

This is an active power plant environment requiring the ability to work indoors and outdoors, climb ladders, work at heights exceeding 100 feet, enter confined spaces, lift up to 25 pounds, wear required PPE, and work around energized and rotating equipment.

If you know how to earn the trust of the people doing the work—not just enforce the rules that govern it—you may have found the opportunity you’ve been looking for.
