Summary 
Our client is seeking an avian biological monitor the projects near Evanston, WY. The Projects maintain a monitoring and curtailment program to avoid and minimize potential impacts to eagles from operating wind turbines. The role of the avian monitor is to detect, identify, and monitor eagles, and initiate turbine curtailment in accordance with the curtailment protocol.
Responsibilities 

  • Avian monitors work independently at the tower and communicate with operations staff to initiate and release turbine curtailment. 
  • One avian monitor is stationed at the observation tower near the center of the projects with a clear view of project turbines and surrounding airspace.
  •  Monitoring from a location outside the observation tower may be required in some circumstances, and a vehicle will be provided for travel within the projects for this purpose. 
  • Avian monitors will be required to perform field work on site related to eagle fatality monitoring.

  • Professional attitude and approach to work
  • Excellent verbal and written communication
  • Proficient using binoculars, spotting scope, range finder, GPS and topographical maps
  • Ability to read, write and understand English
  • Ability to work in various weather conditions throughout the year

The pay range for this role is $19/hr. This is not a guarantee of compensation or salary, as final offer amount may vary based on factors including but not limited to experience and geographic location.
