Shipping and Receiving Technician
Summary
This position is part of the Technology (R&D) team and is responsible for maintaining and operating the R&D sample receiving, shipping, and inventory area. The role involves preparing oil blends, managing sample logistics, maintaining inventory, and coordinating closely with internal teams. This hands-on role is based in a warehouse environment and supports R&D operations by ensuring efficient sample flow and compliance with safety protocols.
Responsibilities
- Prepare large oil blends (pail-size) for R&D testing
- Track and maintain inventory of products, supplies, and blend components
- Coordinate the preparation, packaging, and shipping of samples
- Handle sample shipping through Federal Express and other couriers
- Perform courier delivery of materials to and from the onsite laboratory using a company vehicle
- Maintain records for all sample shipments and receipts
- Ensure the warehouse is clean, organized, and compliant with safety standards
- Interact with internal teams including laboratory staff, refinery personnel, Customer Service, and the Technology team
- Uphold company environmental, health, and safety standards
Preferred Skills and Experience
- High school diploma required; Bachelor's degree in Chemistry or related science field preferred
- Previous experience in a laboratory, warehouse, or industrial environment
- Ability to lift and handle 5-gallon pails (up to 50 lbs), move drums and pallets with manual lifts
- Proficient with computers and online tools (e.g., email, file management, FedEx website)
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail for maintaining records and work area
- Effective communication skills to coordinate across departments
- Valid driver's license with ability to drive a company vehicle onsite
- Comfortable working in a refinery, warehouse, or outdoor environment with exposure to chemicals, fumes, and varying weather conditions
- Committed to following safety and environmental policies, participating in training and emergency response activities
The pay range for this role is $20-$24/hour. This is not a guarantee of compensation or salary, as final offer amount may vary based on factors including but not limited to experience and geographic location.
