Turnaround Mechanical Engineer | Tired of engineering packages? Come solve real problems.
Some engineering roles have you spending months producing drawings and documentation.
This one puts you in the middle of a refinery turnaround, solving the problems that keep work moving. If you enjoy being the person planners rely on when questions need answers, not next week, but today – you’ll probably feel right at home.
What you’ll be doing is serving as the dedicated mechanical engineering resource for a refinery turnaround planning team. You’ll become the go-to person supporting 10–15 planners, helping eliminate engineering bottlenecks across roughly 1,500 maintenance jobs.
You’ll:
- Answer RFIs and resolve mechanical questions related to piping, valves, torque requirements, and maintenance scopes.
- Interpret engineering specifications and standards to keep work moving safely and efficiently.
- Prepare supporting documentation including pipe spec forms and torque tags.
- Work directly with turnaround planners to quickly resolve day-to-day engineering challenges.
- Support maintenance-driven turnaround work while providing high-level support on capital and expense items.
- Keep planners productive by delivering practical engineering solutions instead of unnecessary complexity.
- Help improve turnaround execution by reducing delays and clearing engineering backlogs.
What you get is the opportunity to become an integral part of a major refinery turnaround team where your decisions have an immediate impact on execution. This long-term contract runs through 2028, offers a Monday-Friday schedule (7:00 AM-4:00 PM), pays $70-75/hour, and includes $143/day per diem, mobilization and demobilization assistance for qualified travelers.
Who you are is someone who enjoys practical problem solving more than perfect theory. You can work independently, navigate engineering standards without constant direction, and communicate well with planners, maintenance, and operations. You bring experience supporting refinery or industrial turnarounds, understand piping systems and fixed equipment, and know how to keep work moving without sacrificing engineering quality.
