If you became an engineer because you wanted to build things, not spend your career reviewing someone else’s work – keep reading.

This role puts you in charge of small capital projects from concept through commissioning at a major refining operation. You’ll work alongside Operations, Reliability, Construction, and Engineering, making decisions that have a direct impact on the facility instead of watching projects from the sidelines.

If you like seeing your work installed, commissioned, and running in the field, this is the kind of engineering role that’s becoming harder to find.

What you’ll be doing

  • Lead multiple instrumentation and electrical capital projects from initial scope through startup.
  • Develop project scopes, estimates, schedules, and technical documentation.
  • Coordinate with Operations, Reliability, Construction, Process Engineering, and outside contractors to keep projects moving.
  • Manage project budgets, forecasts, change orders, and contractor performance.
  • Support detailed design, equipment procurement, installation, and field execution.
  • Lead Management of Change (MOC) activities and Pre-Startup Safety Reviews (PSSRs).
  • Provide field support during construction, commissioning, and startup to ensure installations are completed safely and correctly.

What you get

  • $70/hour
  • Long-term assignment (approximately one year)
  • Standard Monday-Friday schedule (8:00 AM-5:00 PM)
  • $100/day per diem for qualified travelers
  • Mileage reimbursement for mobilization and demobilization
  • Opportunity to manage projects from conception through startup instead of being limited to one phase
  • Work alongside experienced operations and engineering teams at a major industrial facility

Who you are

You’re an Electrical or Instrumentation Engineer who enjoys owning projects, not just producing deliverables. You ask questions in the field, build relationships with operations, and take pride in seeing equipment commissioned successfully.

You have at least two years of E&I engineering experience in refining, chemical processing, power generation, or another heavy industrial environment. You’re comfortable balancing office engineering with field execution, and you understand that successful projects require both technical knowledge and strong communication.

Interested? Reach out and let’s talk through the projects, the team, and whether this is the kind of engineering work you’ve been looking for.
