Job ID #25300

We are seeking a Superintendent 1 (S1) to support and lead day-to-day field operations on commercial construction projects in the Pensacola, Florida area.
This is an excellent opportunity for a developing construction field leader who is ready to take ownership of an assigned scope, area, phase, or smaller project while continuing to grow their Superintendent skills.
The S1 is responsible for helping ensure work is performed safely, correctly, on schedule, and to the expected level of quality. This individual works closely with Project Managers, senior field leadership, subcontractors, inspectors, suppliers, and other project stakeholders to coordinate daily construction activities and keep the work moving forward.
The ideal candidate is a hands-on builder who understands what good work looks like in the field, communicates effectively with trade partners, identifies problems early, and can take ownership without requiring constant direction.
Key Responsibilities

  • Lead daily field operations for assigned scopes, areas, phases, or smaller projects.
  • Maintain a strong and visible commitment to jobsite safety and ensure subcontractors follow company, project, and OSHA requirements.
  • Coordinate daily activities between subcontractors, suppliers, inspectors, and the project team.
  • Monitor work for compliance with construction drawings, specifications, quality standards, and approved means and methods.
  • Assist with developing and maintaining short-term schedules and look-ahead plans.
  • Identify potential schedule conflicts, field issues, material problems, and coordination concerns and communicate them promptly to project leadership.
  • Conduct regular jobsite walks and maintain awareness of ongoing work and upcoming activities.
  • Coordinate material deliveries, equipment needs, site logistics, and access requirements.
  • Assist with inspections and ensure work is properly prepared before inspection.
  • Maintain accurate daily reports documenting manpower, work completed, deliveries, weather, visitors, and significant jobsite events.
  • Support quality control, punch list activities, and project closeout.
  • Build productive working relationships with subcontractors and trade partners.
  • Help maintain a safe, organized, and productive jobsite.
  • Represent the company professionally with clients, architects, engineers, inspectors, subcontractors, and other project stakeholders.
  • Escalate significant field issues appropriately while taking ownership of resolving day-to-day problems within assigned responsibilities.

What Success Looks Like
A successful S1:

  • Runs their assigned area with increasing independence.
  • Understands what is happening on the jobsite today and what needs to happen next.
  • Keeps safety and quality at the front of daily decision-making.
  • Communicates problems early rather than allowing them to become larger issues.
  • Keeps subcontractors and trade partners aligned with project expectations.
  • Maintains organized documentation and field communication.
  • Develops the ability to anticipate field problems rather than simply react to them.
  • Delivers assigned work safely, correctly, and on schedule.

Qualifications

  • 2+ years of commercial construction field experience, preferably with a General Contractor or Construction Manager.
  • Experience with commercial, institutional, education, healthcare, renovation, or similar construction projects preferred.
  • Working knowledge of construction drawings, specifications, and construction sequencing.
  • Understanding of subcontractor coordination and jobsite logistics.
  • Ability to perform regular jobsite walks and monitor field activities.
  • OSHA training preferred.
  • Experience with Procore or similar construction management technology preferred.
  • Strong communication, organization, and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to work independently while knowing when to ask for direction or escalate an issue.
  • Strong desire to build a long-term career in construction field leadership.

Ideal Background
This position may be a strong fit for candidates coming from roles such as:

  • Assistant Superintendent
  • Assistant Project Superintendent
  • Field Engineer
  • Project Engineer with strong field exposure
  • Construction Foreman
  • Lead Foreman
  • General Contractor field operations
  • Commercial construction field supervision

Candidates should have enough hands-on field experience to understand how construction gets done and be ready to take greater ownership of daily operations.
Compensation
$75,000–$105,000 per year, based on experience, qualifications, and project responsibilities.
This is a direct-hire opportunity with the opportunity to grow into greater project and field leadership responsibilities over time.
