You know the difference between watching a control board and actually running a plant.

This is a short-term opportunity to step into a roughly 500 MW peaking power facility, operate high-pressure steam boilers and turbine generators, and get paid well for the experience you already have.

What you’ll do

  • Operate control boards and DCS systems for high-pressure steam boilers and steam turbine generators
  • Start, monitor, and adjust boiler firing to match generation demand
  • Manage boiler water levels, steam temperatures, pressures, fuel flow, and combustion air
  • Maintain generator load as directed by shift leadership and plant operations
  • Respond when the ISO calls for generation and units need to come online on short notice
  • Troubleshoot changing operating conditions and take corrective action within established procedures
  • Keep accurate operating logs while working closely with the rest of the operating crew

What you get

You’ll be stepping into a facility with four natural-gas-fired steam boilers, four GE tandem steam turbine generators, and approximately 500 MW of generating capacity. Two units use E/P controls and two use Emerson Ovation DCS.

The assignment is expected to run approximately 2–3 months, starting August 24, at $50–$60/hour, with $203/day per diem available for eligible travelers.

Who you are

You’ve spent time in a conventional fossil-fueled or steam generating plant control room. You know high-pressure boilers, combustion control, steam systems, DCS operation, and generator load management, and you’re comfortable making decisions when operating conditions change quickly.

Ovation experience is highly preferred, especially if you’ve operated tangentially fired natural-gas boilers.

Curious what the plant and assignment look like? Message me and I’ll give you the details before you decide if it’s worth a conversation.
