You know those QC jobs where “quality” is one of six things you’re responsible for? This isn’t one of them.
On this federal design-build project, QC is your entire job. You’ll own the three-phase quality control program from preparatory through initial and follow-up control, making sure the work meets the standards required to get the facility all the way through commissioning.
You’ll be the person who owns quality. You’ll:
- Run the three phases of control for every definable feature of work.
- Manage submittal reviews, testing, inspections, and certification documentation.
- Track quality requirements across structure, envelope, MEP, finishes, and other major trades.
- Represent QC in preconstruction, design review, partnering, and coordination meetings.
- Make sure documentation is complete, accurate, and ready when the project reaches commissioning and turnover.
- Work with the project team and contractors to identify and address quality issues before they become bigger problems.
The unusual part: the contract protects this position from becoming a catch-all construction role. You will not also be the Superintendent or SSHO. You own the QC program, period.
And this isn’t just another commercial building project. You’re working on a federal design-build project at Marshall Space Flight Center in Huntsville, with NASA relying on the contractor’s QC program in place of its own inspectors. That makes this one of the most closely watched positions on the project and gives an experienced federal QC professional real ownership over how quality gets delivered.
You’ll fit if you’ve spent at least five years in a titled QC Manager role and have five years of broader construction leadership experience on projects of similar size and type. A four-year degree in engineering, architecture, construction management, engineering technology, building construction, or building science is required. Federal three-phase-of-control experience and a USACE CQM-C certification will make your background especially relevant.
What you get: $110,000–$135,000/year, a full-time role, and the opportunity to own a quality program on a NASA project from the inside, not simply support someone else’s.
If you’re a federal QC professional who wants to know what this project looks like and why the QC role is structured this way, let’s have a conversation.
