Are you an experienced Outside Operator who can walk into a modern combined-cycle generating facility, recognize what normal operation looks like, and quickly identify when something isn’t right?

Per Sé Group is seeking an experienced Outside / Floor Operator for a temporary assignment at a 1,250 MW natural gas-fired combined-cycle power generation facility in Morris, Illinois.

This opportunity is ideal for a seasoned operator who enjoys hands-on plant operations, can work independently, and is comfortable stepping into an established operations team with minimal training.

The Challenge

You’ll help maintain safe and reliable plant operations by monitoring, inspecting, operating, and troubleshooting equipment throughout the facility.

Your responsibilities will include:

• Performing independent plant rounds and monitoring combustion turbines, heat recovery steam generators (HRSGs), steam turbines, and balance-of-plant equipment.

• Inspecting pumps, motors, valves, compressors, cooling water, condensate, feedwater, and auxiliary systems.

• Monitoring operating parameters, identifying abnormal conditions, and communicating equipment concerns to the Control Room Operator.

• Supporting plant startups, shutdowns, equipment transitions, and other operating activities.

• Performing equipment isolations, lockout/tagout (LOTO), and clearance activities in accordance with plant procedures.

• Coordinating with maintenance teams during equipment troubleshooting, inspections, and repairs.

• Reading and interpreting P&IDs, operating procedures, equipment manuals, and technical documentation.

• Maintaining accurate operating logs, equipment readings, and shift documentation.

This is strictly an outside/floor operating position. Control Room Operator responsibilities are not required.

What You Bring

• Minimum 3 years of recent natural gas-fired combined-cycle power plant operating experience.

• Demonstrated hands-on experience performing independent outside/floor operating duties.

• Working knowledge of combustion turbines, HRSGs, steam turbines, and associated balance-of-plant systems.

• Ability to recognize abnormal equipment conditions, troubleshoot operating issues, and respond appropriately.

• Experience supporting startups, shutdowns, equipment isolations, and LOTO activities.

• Ability to read and interpret P&IDs, operating procedures, and technical manuals.

• Strong safety awareness, communication skills, and ability to work with minimal supervision.

• Availability to work rotating 12-hour shifts, including days, nights, weekends, and holidays.

Especially valuable: GE combustion turbine experience, familiarity with modern combined-cycle generating facilities, and previous temporary assignments requiring rapid integration into an operating plant.
