We are seeking an experienced Senior Superintendent (S2) to lead field operations and drive successful project execution on commercial and institutional construction projects.
The S2 is an experienced field leader who can independently lead a project field operation, coordinate multiple trades, manage subcontractor performance, maintain schedule and quality expectations, and provide leadership to developing Superintendents and field personnel.
This is a hands-on leadership position for a Superintendent who understands that successful construction requires more than managing today’s activities. The right candidate will anticipate problems, understand the critical path, keep the jobsite organized, and create an accountable field environment where subcontractors and trade partners know what is expected.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead overall field operations for assigned commercial or institutional projects or major project phases.
- Take ownership of jobsite safety, quality, schedule execution, logistics, and trade coordination.
- Lead and mentor S1 Superintendents, Foremen, and other developing field personnel.
- Develop and manage short-term schedules, look-ahead plans, and daily execution plans.
- Coordinate multiple subcontractors and trades to maintain proper sequencing and workflow.
- Identify critical path activities and proactively address schedule risks before they affect the project.
- Lead regular field coordination and subcontractor meetings.
- Hold trade partners accountable for manpower, production, safety, quality, and schedule commitments.
- Work closely with the Project Manager to align field operations with the overall project plan, budget, and schedule.
- Review drawings and specifications to identify constructability issues, coordination conflicts, and potential field problems.
- Manage site logistics, deliveries, material flow, equipment, access, and work areas.
- Conduct regular jobsite walks and maintain visibility into current and upcoming work.
- Maintain a high standard of quality control and ensure deficiencies are identified and corrected quickly.
- Coordinate inspections and maintain productive relationships with inspectors and authorities having jurisdiction.
- Manage punch list activities and drive projects toward successful turnover and closeout.
- Communicate regularly with project leadership regarding progress, manpower, schedule concerns, risks, and significant field issues.
- Maintain a professional, safe, organized, and productive jobsite.
- Build strong working relationships with subcontractors, trade partners, clients, architects, engineers, inspectors, and project stakeholders.
Leadership Expectations
The S2 is expected to:
- Lead by example and establish clear expectations.
- Be firm, fair, and consistent with subcontractors and field personnel.
- Develop trust while maintaining accountability.
- Make sound, timely decisions in the field.
- Stay calm and effective when problems arise.
- Coach and develop less experienced field personnel.
- Communicate issues early rather than allowing them to become larger project problems.
- Create a jobsite culture where safety, quality, communication, and execution are non-negotiable.
What Success Looks Like
A successful S2:
- Can independently lead a project field operation.
- Keeps multiple trades coordinated and moving efficiently.
- Anticipates problems before they affect schedule, cost, quality, or productivity.
- Understands and actively manages the critical path.
- Maintains control of manpower, sequencing, logistics, and daily execution.
- Develops strong field teams and improves the performance of those around them.
- Builds productive relationships with subcontractors while maintaining accountability.
- Delivers a safe, organized, high-quality project experience for the client and project team.
Qualifications
- 6+ years of progressive commercial construction field experience.
- Prior Superintendent experience required.
- Proven experience leading commercial or institutional construction projects.
- Strong understanding of construction scheduling, sequencing, subcontractor coordination, and critical path activities.
- Ability to read and interpret construction drawings, specifications, schedules, and project documents.
- Strong knowledge of OSHA requirements and construction safety practices.
- Demonstrated ability to independently manage field operations.
- Experience leading or mentoring Foremen, Assistant Superintendents, Superintendents, or other field personnel.
- Strong communication, leadership, conflict-resolution, and problem-solving skills.
- Experience with Procore or similar construction management technology preferred.

- Projects requiring significant coordination, logistics, and schedule management
Compensation
$105,000–$135,000 per year, based on experience, project scope, and qualifications.
This is a direct-hire opportunity for an experienced construction professional who is ready to take ownership of field operations and continue developing as a senior construction leader.
