You know what happens when safety gets treated like one more responsibility somebody squeezes between everything else.
That’s not this job. On this NASA project in Huntsville, safety is your job. Period. You’ll own the site safety program full-time, with the authority to hold the line on a major federal construction project.
You’ll be responsible for site orientations and indoctrination for every worker, activity hazard analyses, daily site inspections and records, subcontractor safety accountability, and mishap reporting through NASA’s system.
You’ll also be the person identifying hazards before they become incidents and making sure the people working around you understand exactly what safe execution looks like.
This is not a role where safety is buried under a pile of collateral duties. The contract protects the SSHO from being assigned other responsibilities, and NASA has significant authority when safety requirements aren’t met. In other words, your voice carries weight.
What you get is a $110K–$135K base salary and the chance to put your federal safety experience to work on a project where the stakes, visibility, and standards are all high.
You’re the person we want to talk to if you’ve spent at least 10 years in construction, including 5+ years as an SSHO, and you’ve already served as the SSHO on at least three $50M+ federal construction projects. You know how to spot hazards, enforce compliance, work with subcontractors, and lead safety without needing to be reminded why it matters.
USACE EM 385-1-1, OSHA 30, recent competency training, and federal or secure-installation experience are strong pluses.
Curious what the project looks like and what kind of authority this SSHO actually has? Reach out. Let’s talk before you decide anything.
