You’re not stepping into another generic engineering support role. You’ll sit in the middle of some seriously large renewable projects-utility-scale Solar PV and BESS-helping make sure the EPC actually builds what was engineered, on the schedule it committed to.

What you’ll own is the technical side of construction execution. You’ll work with EPC contractors, internal engineering teams, and project stakeholders to keep issues moving and decisions grounded in the drawings, codes, and project requirements.

  • Review construction drawings, electrical diagrams, and Solar PV layouts
  • Coordinate with EPCs on engineering deliverables, schedules, and technical requirements
  • Track RFIs, technical issues, and change impacts through resolution
  • Support construction teams when design or engineering questions surface
  • Bring constructability input to development projects when bandwidth allows
  • Step onto project sites occasionally for inspections, coordination, and oversight
  • Keep multiple project workstreams moving without losing the technical details

What makes this interesting is the scale. You’ll be supporting utility renewable projects in the 100-400 MW range, with real exposure to active EPC execution-not residential solar, not small C&I work. And while you’ll occasionally visit sites, this is primarily a desktop-based engineering role.

You’ll bring an Electrical Engineering degree or closely related technical background, 5+ years supporting utility-scale Solar PV and/or BESS projects, and direct construction-phase EPC experience. You should be comfortable with NEC, AutoCAD, Excel, and PVsyst-and comfortable being the person who can connect engineering details to what is actually happening in the field.

The setup is flexible for an external contractor, with preference for candidates in Central or Eastern time zones. The ideal candidate is Houston-based, but Texas and remote candidates can be considered. The schedule is 7-4, 40 hours/week, with limited travel for site coordination.

If you know utility-scale renewable construction and want more technical ownership without living on a jobsite, reach out. We can tell you what projects are coming up and what this role actually looks like.
