Freight Manager

We are looking for an experienced Freight Manager for an exciting opportunity in the Chicagoland area.  As a Freight Manager, you will coordinate shipping logistics with exporters, transportation crews, warehousing companies, and retailers. You will model sales volumes to optimize transportation, importation, and warehousing as well as monitor customs, global security policies and trade agreements.

Responsibilities

  • Coordinate shipping logistics with exporters, transportation crews, warehousing companies, and retailers.
  • Solicit pricing from potential vendors for all locations.
  • Model sales volumes to optimize transportation, importation, and warehousing.
  • Enable shipment tracking and tracing.
  • Monitor customs, global security policies and trade agreements.
  • Supervise staff during various inbound, city and/or outbound freight operations.
  • Ensure production goals are met by managing freight department.


Required Skills, Knowledge and Abilities

  • Demonstrates strong organizational skills, pays close attention to detail.
  • Possesses physical strength necessary to lift boxes and other heavy items on a regular basis.
  • Knowledge of LTL industry, hazardous materials regulations and DOT rules and regulations.


Education and Experience

  • High school diploma or equivalent is required.
  • Experience in inventory sector is preferred.
  • At least four (4) years of experience in Transportation, Distribution or Logistics in manufacturing industry or handling facility.
