Summary
Per Sé Group is seeking a Professional Engineer to conduct forensic investigations. In this independent contractor role, you will utilize your experience and advanced knowledge of Civil and Structural Engineering principles and methods to investigate, inspect, and interpret evidence of property damage and/or mechanical/electrical equipment failure for residential, commercial, and industrial buildings and sites. This role requires day travel to various areas of California to perform inspections.
Responsibilities
- Inspect assigned structures and/or equipment sites as prescribed by company policy and industry standards; approximately 70% field work / 30% office work
- Document existing site conditions using scaled sketches and/or diagrams, measurements, collection of evidence, and photographic documentation, as appropriate
- Utilize appropriate engineering survey, monitoring, and measuring equipment
- Analyze available data, develop conclusions, and draft technical reports
- Responsible for appropriate handling of records of assignments, referrals, follow-up with clients
- Complete all forensic investigations in a timely manner and provide written reports that are clear and concise, written in a manner that conforms to policies and industry standards
- Comply with company and OSHA safety standards (as applicable) and use of personal protection equipment
- Provide expert testimony at mediation, arbitration, depositions, and/or trials, as necessary
Preferred Skills and Expertise
- Bachelor degree in Engineering from an ABET accredited college or university
- Minimum of 5 years of forensic investigation experience, comfortable with walking and climbing to inspect multi-story residential, industrial, and commercial buildings and sites
- Must be a Professional Engineer (PE) in California
- Demonstrate excellent verbal and written communication skills
